Dear Steam Enthusiast:

On January 18, 2003 a meeting was held with approximately 70 interested parties to form a non-profit corporation, the membership of which is open to all who enjoy the operation of all kinds of steam and related vintage machinery.

Our mission and purpose of this corporation shall be for the education and preservation of steam traction engines and all kinds of vintage steam and related machinery, engineers, and the promotion of safety in the operation and management of traction engines and vintage engines and boilers.

In January of 2003 the state of Wisconsin added ultrasound testing to its boiler inspection requirements. Our organization has formed a legislative committee that is currently working with the state with positive results on how boiler inspections are carried out.

Our president, Mike Wahl has been elected by the club to represent the Wisconsin Historical Steam Engine Association Inc. (WHSEA) at the National Board Inspection Code (NBIC) meetings.

We also formed an education committee that developed a steam school to educate those interested in the operation and maintenance of a steam engine.

Our first school was held in October of 2004, with 44 students and a great deal of positive feedback. Six of our state boiler inspectors attended our 2005 steam school and they had a lot of good comments about the school.

We are currently preparing for our 5th annual steam school, which will be held September 26, 27, & 28, 2008 at the Rock River Thesheree show grounds, Edgerton, WI.

As an interested hobbyist we invite you to become a member of this association and share the opportunity to continue to enjoy the operation of steam engines in a safe and enjoyable fashion.

From the past comes the future and by the preservation of this equipment, we introduce the knowledge of the past to generations of the future.

The annual membership fee is $20 per person and is renewable at the annual meeting in May.
